You should plan to book a tent when you book your outside wedding venue. When you are walking around at the venue, talk with the staff there to determine where you could put a tent and whether they have rules for the types of tents allowed. They can also help you determine what size tent you might need. Square tents are usually the best option because they have a taller ceiling, the guests feel included, and it keeps things cooler.
The two most popular types of tents are frame tents and pole tents. Pole tents have a sweeping roof, are less expensive, don’t need a liner to cover up the frame, and require shorter set-up time. But they also have center poles that can get in the way, must be staked into the ground (which may be a problem at some venues), and require about five to eight feet of space all around the tent for stakes and anchor ropes.
The other type of tent is a frame tent. These can be used on more surfaces than the pole tent, like asphalt, brick, or a rooftop, can be hooked to other frame tents to connect spaces, and do not have anything in the center of the tent so people can walk freely inside. On the other hand, they are often more expensive than pole tents, have a visible frame, and require more time to setup than a pole tent.
