How to Throw a Kids’ Carnival Party!

A carnival party is bright, exciting, entertaining and creative. Hosting a carnival-themed birthday party in your backyard is a great way to entertain kids in the warmer weather, so why not put on an event for your children and their friends? The first step in planning an outdoor party is preparing for any weather conditions. Renting a tent can be a great way to replicate the feel of a carnival, while also providing shelter from any potential rain that can fall on your party date. For extra ambience, consider renting tent lights, which can add flair and illuminate your party as the sun falls.
No carnival is complete without plenty of games. Some fun games you can easily create include the ping-pong ball toss, water-gun shooting and face painting. To play the ping-pong ball toss, purchase a few ping-pong balls and some plastic cups. Fill the cups halfway with water and arrange them in a fun shape on a table. Then, children can toss the ping-pong balls at the plastic cups, and any child whose ball lands in the cup can win a prize. Consider purchasing fun prizes and setting them up at a prize table under your tent. To arrange a water-gun shooting game, take golf tees, ping-pong balls, and mini-water guns and arrange them on another table (you can rent tables from party rental companies to be sure you have enough). Place each ping-pong ball on top of a golf tee and provide the children with mini-water guns. Ask the kids to stand a foot or so in front of the table, and let them try their hand at shooting the balls off the golf tees, one at a time. If a child successfully shoots the ping-pong balls off the tees, provide them with a prize. Finally, face painting is a cute way to take a carnival party to the next level. You can hire a face painter, or do the painting yourself. All you’ll need is two chairs, one for you and one for a child, and some face paints and brushes. You can paint anything from fun shapes to animal faces to make your carnival party feel more realistic and exciting.
Finally, no party is complete without food. Consider renting cotton candy machines, hot dog makers or sno cone machines to provide children with tasty and fun carnival snacks.
