While having fun at any party is a must, so is safety! When you rent one of our popcorn machines it is important to take a few safety precautions. You should not use an extension cord at all. Instead, make sure the machine is near a properly sized outlet. However, if an extension is required, the extension must have ground wire and be properly connected or you loose the safety features built into the machine itself. Also, a specific sized chord is required for these types of machines. Using a light duty chord can result in overheating from overload potentially causing a fire. We want your party to be a blast not go up in flames! If you must use an extension, you will want a no. 12 wire or if going over 25-feet from your outlet, then a no. 10 is best.

The machine has three switches: Light and Warm, to turn on the heat lamp and optional strip heater under corn pan, a Kettle Motor Switch, turns on the motor that drives the kettle agitator shaft, and the Kettle Heat Switch, turns on the heat elements inside the kettle. You should use caution and keep the motor air intake and exhaust holes clear to avoid damage and serious burns. Also, don’t touch the kettle while it is hot.

Ready to Pop?

Step 1 – Turn on the Kettle Heat and Kettle Motor & Exhaust switches

Step 2 – Perform a “Test Pop” by placing only 1/4 of the required oil into the kettle with 3 kernels of corn. As soon as those kernels pop, add the remaining oil plus the measured corn and “Flavor” (if wanted) into the kettle. Close the lid and watch.

Step 3 – When popping is complete, rotate handle to dump the popcorn still in the kettle then return kettle to its upright position.

Step 4 – Repeat the cycle starting at step 2, eliminating the test pop and adding the full measure of ingredients (popping 4-5 batches of corn in a row will provide better tasting and balanced batches than your first)

Step 5 – On your final batch, turn off the Kettle Heat when the lid forces open from the popping corn. Then turn off the Kettle Motor and Exhaust switch.

Step 6 – Clean your kettle once it is completely cooled. Unplug the kettle and remove it from the machine. Wipe inside kettle, kettle lids, kettle crossbar and outside of kettle as well as underneath with a cloth. Do not submerge the kettle in water!
